Suicide&Co

Globally, 1 in 5 people is affected by suicide in their lifetime. In the UK alone, 34,000 people are directly bereaved by the suicide of a loved one each year.

But many of those dealing with suicide-related grief in all its forms are left to feel alone and forgotten about.

In recognition of this stigma, and often silence, surrounding death by suicide, we created "Words Unspoken" a campaign that aims to give people who have been bereaved by suicide a voice. We encouraged them to write the things they would have liked to have said, or would say now, to the loved one they lost. And by sharing their voices, and showing these letters and notes in boldly large format posters across the country and on socials, hoping it could help and inspire those who are still bottling their feelings to come through.

Hundreds of letters were collected, and we couldn't imagine how powerful these letters would be. How much it would actually be helpful for those who write them as much as those who read them, tackling one by one the stigma people have had about suicide-related grief.

The campaign got £97 650 worth of free space given by Ocean and £34 000 by Clear Channel.

Within the first two weeks of the campaign, we received more than 150 new letters and still counting as the Words Unspoken is now an ongoing platform for Suicide&Co.
